Our Star Skate Program is a learn to skate program for students beginning their skating journeys. Whether students are looking to get into artistic skating, join the next Learn to Play, or just feel confident over their wheels, our year round, 8 week sessions are designed to solidify their fundamentals and give them the confidence to pursue their roller goals!
The Star Skate Program is a 4-tiered class divided by skill level. It begins with a 30 minute class on skates and is followed by 30 minutes of off skates fun to help with body awareness and improve their on skates skills! At week 7, we will have our Assessment Day in which skaters' skills will be evaluated to determine if they are ready to progress to the next class level. Parents will receive a report card via email after the assessment which will indicate which level to register them for in the next session and help them keep track of their student's progress.
Our goal is to help our students build confidence and good habits in our program. Promotion to a higher level at the end of each session is not demanded or expected as we know each student will move at their own pace when learning to skate. As they progress through the four levels of this program, however, they will master foundational skills that they will use for life!
If your student has prior experience in skating (roller or ice), we strongly encourage you to sign them up for a skills assessment prior to the start of the program so that they begin in the appropriate class level for their skill set. Please email Skating School Lead Candice Clifford at cclifford@therinks.com to schedule time for a 20-minute assessment.
Personal skates, quad or inline are HIGHLY recommended, as rental skates are limited in size and availability.
