Pre-Competition Program

Welcome to the Pre-Competition Program! Our year-round sessions are designed to help your students take their next steps towards competitive artistic roller skating! Here in Pre-Competition, we will be introducing your skaters to the two primary skating disciplines: Freeskating and Dance. Their 90 minute class will include 30 minutes of Freeskating, 30 minutes of Dance, and 30 minutes of Dry Land (conditioning).

Pre-Competition is comprised of 4 different levels. At week 7, we will have our Assessment Day in which skaters' skills will be evaluated to determine if they are ready to progress to the next class level. Parents will receive a report card via email after the assessment which will indicate which level to register them for in the next session and help them keep track of their student's progress.

Our Pre-Comp students are eligible to compete in beginner competitions locally in the Southern California League Meets; however, they will need to purchase a USARS one time use or seasonal Amateur Card before doing so. Upon completion of Level 4, our students will join our Competition Team (hyperlink to page) and will be eligible to compete in local, Regional, National and International level competitions!

If your student has prior experience in skating (roller or ice), we strongly encourage you to sign them up for a skills assessment prior to the start of the program so that they begin in the appropriate class level for their skill set. Please email Skating School Lead Candice Clifford atcclifford@therinks.comto schedule time for a 30-minute assessment.
