FIVEPOINT AQUIRES NAMING RIGHTS TO THE 2,500 SPECTATOR ARENA OF THE GREAT PARK ICE & SPORTS COMPLEX
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the 2,500 spectator arena of the NHL club's $100 million plus Great Park Ice & Sports Complex will bear the name of the local development company, FivePoint. Set to open in 2018, the 280,000-square-foot complex will offer a variety of ice sports including youth and adult hockey programs, tournaments, figure skating, curling, broomball, sled hockey, public open skating and will be used as the practice facility for the Anaheim Ducks NHL team. The facility will include four sheets of ice and the main arena will feature seating for 2,500 spectators, giving the area's burgeoning high school hockey league an appropriate location to host highly attended games.
"The Anaheim Ducks are a world-class sports organization and we are excited to be part of their new Irvine complex which will become a major destination for youth hockey and another shining example of the progress being made to deliver the Orange County Great Park as promised," said Emile Haddad, Chairman and CEO of FivePoint. "We are proud to put our name on a facility that will become an anchor for one of the largest sports parks in the nation. It's an exciting moment for Irvine and all of Orange County."
